Yarding 2918 1st September Numbers came back from last weeks larger yarding. There was a fair number of heavy grown steers and bullocks yarded with many in excess of 600kg. Young cattle sold to a stronger market with producers keen on light cattle to background. The market for grown steers came off a shade and the cow market was cheaper for plainer lines and firm for well conditioned pens. Bulls were dearer. Vealer steers sold to a top of 216c and averaged 179c/kg across all grades. Vealer heifers topped at 188c and averaged 175c/kg. Yearling steers made to 189c and yearling heifers to 174c/kg. Medium weight steers averaged 160c to 177c and heavy weight grown steers and bullocks sold for 164c to 176c/kg. Extra heavy steers sold to $1216/head. Cows averaged 124c to 135c/kg for medium and heavy lines. Bulls made 134c/kg across all weights.
